The result: the air smells better for hours to days, the crystals remain, and the odor returns as soon as the fragrance dissipates.

What Enzyme Cleaners Actually Do

Enzyme cleaners — products like Bac-Azap, Nature's Miracle — contain biological enzymes that break down uric acid crystals at the molecular level. When applied correctly with adequate dwell time, they eliminate the source rather than covering it. Enzyme cleaners fail when the product does not reach the contamination, dwell time is too short, or the contamination is deeper than the surface application reaches.

What Ozone Treatment Does

Professional ozone treatment works differently from both. Ozone (O3) is an unstable molecule that oxidizes organic compounds on contact — including odor molecules in the air and on surfaces simultaneously. Ozone does not replace enzyme treatment for active uric acid contamination — it works best as the final step after the source has been treated or removed.

• Step 4: Ozone treatment to clear residual airborne and surface odor
